"But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS to all and to all a good night."

And Away They Flew (DPP 24)

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle
And away they flew like dawn on a thistle.

And Giving a Nod, Up the Chimney He Rose (DPP 23)

"And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose."

Daddy treated us to a dinner out at the Rivers Grill and Evie enjoyed a lemmon. Great night to start the holiday weekend.

He Spoke Not a Word, but Went Straight to His Work (DPP 22)

"He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk"

So I missed making my post yesterday because Reuben and I went on a date night. Evelyn went over to Sr. Betts house and he and I treated ourselves to a night out for sushi and watching Tron in theaters. It was such a great night alone just the two of us. We then picked Evie up and we all went right to bed.

I didn’t take any photos yesterday as it was such a busy day, so instead, here is the photo from the children’s book “The Night Before Christmas” that I have been trying to follow this month in my December Photo Project. This book was given to my brother in 1980 on his first Christmas. I love how beautiful the images are in this story. Defiantly a book I will continue to share with my daughter over the years.

A Wink of His Eye and a Twist of His Head (DPP 21)

"A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread"

Evelyn has found a new favorite seat sitting in her car seat. She takes her toys one by one over with her and plays in it. Silly girl.

Goodnight my sweet child, sweet dreams!

Willey wanted in on the photo fun today.

I Laughed When I Saw Him, in Spite of Myself. (DPP 20)

"He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself."

If you look close, you can see 9 teeth in there. Evelyn got her first molar in. Nights have been rough the last few nights. Let's hope tonight is better.

He had a Broad Face and a Little Round Belly (DPP 19)

"He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly."

And the Smoke it Encircled His Head Like a Wreath (DPP 18)

"The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath."

This one above is on our front door, and the blue one is on our back door. I made them both.

A snowy night!

And the Beard of His Chin was as White as the Snow (DPP 17)

"His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow."

Have you ever played Christmas Scrabble? It is just scrabble, but all your words have to relate to Christmas somehow. Sometimes it gets very difficult to come up with a word that fits. You may have a word that your letters create, but it no way fits the Christmas theme. Holley and I played a couple of rounds of Christmas Scrabble and it was so much fun. I think I am going to make this a holiday tradition! (By the way, besides a few house rules, these were all legit words).

His Cheeks Were Like Roses, His Nose Like a Cherry! (DPP 16)

"His eyes - how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!"

A Bundle of Toys He Flung on His Back (DPP 15)

"A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack."

I just love her little tush and her beautiful eyes. I can't get enough of her.

We had such a great time having the Fox family over for dinner. Evelyn got to hang out with her "BOYFRIEND" who is only 2 days older than her and her friend Kristen. It is so fun to watch her interact with other children. The holidays are so much fun!

He was Dressed All in Fur, From His Head to His Foot (DPP 14)

"He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot."

Oh what a beautiful sight as I drove home at lunch. I love Hood River.

And then another beautiful sight on my drive home after work. Can't get much better than this.

Down the Chimney St. Nicholas Came with a Bound (DPP 13)

"As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound."

The Prancing and Pawing of Each Little "Hoof" (DPP 12)

"And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. "

Ahhhh cat naps, wish I could get more of them!

With the Sleigh Full of Toys, and St. Nicholas Too. (DPP 11)

"So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too."
